Welcome to the Emory School of Medicine!

Emory is an outstanding School of Medicine that combines rich clinical experiences,
superb teaching, and cutting-edge research with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Our
faculty is dedicated, dynamic and genuinely loves teaching. We are currently
revising our curriculum to make it one of the most innovative and student centered
in the nation. We will introduce entering students to clinical medicine on the first
day of school. We will create opportunities for areas of academic emphasis and make
our basic sciences even more clinically relevant. We are also constructing a new
medical education building that will provide state of the art facilities including
wireless technology, procedure simulation labs, small group learning classrooms,
simulated patient examination rooms and much more when it opens in 2007. Our MD/PhD
Program prepares highly qualified students for careers as investigators and teachers
in academic medicine and biomedical research. Those enrolled in our MD/MPH Program
with the Rollins School of Public Health become physician leaders in important fields
such as epidemiology and international health.
Emory is one of the finest
biomedical research institutions in the nation, ranking in the top 20 schools of
medicine in NIH research awards. Outstanding programs in neurosciences,
transplantation, vaccine research, oncology, cardiovascular biology, biomedical
engineering and nanotechnology, to name a few, make Emory a vibrant research
center and one capable of applying the latest scientific breakthroughs to patient
care.
Each year, Emory’s own
or affiliated clinics and hospitals record more than 2 million patient visits,
and Emory Healthcare is the largest and most comprehensive service provider in
Atlanta. Emory physicians also provide a major portion of the city’s indigent
and public health care. Just as important, medical students and residents gain
valuable clinical experience in a variety of settings – Emory University Hospitals,
Grady Memorial Hospital, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and the Veterans Affairs
Medical Center.
We invite you to explore
the many opportunities that Emory University School of Medicine offers in
medical education, biomedical research, and clinical care. Please let us know
if we can help you in any way.
Sincerely,
Thomas J.
